This 1965 Ford Mustang was delivered as a C-Code convertible with a 289ci V8 and automatic transmission. It was owned by a single family for ~30 years before it was acquired by the seller. In 2015 the engine was rebuilt to displace 293ci by Mustang Madness in Portland, Connecticut, and it is topped by Edelbrock heads and a Holley carburetor. A Tremec five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel discs, and a GT-style exhaust system and Rally-Pac instruments were also installed by the previous owners, while the seller mounted Scott Drake wheels, overhauled the interior, added a Custom Autosound Bluetooth stereo and power steering, and replaced the top, radiator, clutch, and more as described below.
The previous owners also added a GT-style exhaust system and a luggage rack. The seller replaced the white soft top, which is power-operated. Paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.
Four-wheel discs and replacement suspension components were also installed by the previous owners, and the seller had the 15″ Scott Drake wheels and BFGoodrich tires mounted and a power-steering system installed.
A custom console separates the bucket seats, which were overhauled by the seller. The carpeting, door cards, dashboard pads, and some trim components were also replaced, and a Custom Autosound stereo was installed.
The 289ci V8 was rebuilt in 2015 with oversized pistons, replacement connecting rods, a balanced rotating assembly, a roller camshaft, roller rockers, and Edelbrock heads. The aluminum intake manifold is topped by a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and electronic ignition was utilized. The seller tells us they have replaced the radiator, and in preparation for the sale the starter, fuel pump, coolant hoses, battery terminals, and fluids were changed, a window regulator was repaired, and the wheel bearings were adjusted.
